In Memory

During 2013 we lost two of our Brothers, Kenny Edwards Jr. and Roger Winn.

Kenny was an employee of Rutherford County Rescue for the last 3 years. Kenny was also a Captain at Ellenboro Fire Department for the last 25 years.  Kenny was also employed fulltime as Forman with Asplundh Tree Expert Co. Kenny died on February 27, 2013 from injuries that he sustained after being hit by a tree in a wooded area in Valdese..

On March 23, 2013 we lost Chief Roger Winn who was a member of Rutherford Co. Rescue for over 30 years. Chief Winn died from complications due to open heart surgery.

Kenny Jr. and Roger will live on in our memories and are deeply missed by all of us. Rest in peace our brothers.

January RCR Explorer Post Profile.

Meet Makayla Yarbrough.

Makayla has been with the Rutherford County Rescue Explorer Post 911 (formally know as the Junior Rescue Program) for 2 years and she currently hold the position of Lieutenant over the program.

Makayla a student at East High School has logged hundreds of hours in the back of our ambulances as an observer and has proven herself to be a valuable asset to the duty crews because she is always willing and ready to help in anyway with the exception of having any patient contact.

Makayla knows our trucks and she knows what equipment the crews will need to treat patients and she will make sure that the crews have what they need so the duty crew can focus on treating the patient instead of running back to a truck to get something extra that they may need during the call. No matter if she running for equipment or carrying a first in bag out for the crews, Makayla is always ready to help and ready to go on the next call.

Makayla’s goals are to become an EMT and then advance to, and to work as a Paramedic while she attends college. Part of her goal is to also attend Gardner Webb University to become a Nurse. Makayla’s long term goal is to become a Flight Nurse for Regional One and to work in the field as a Paramedic Part-time.

Rutherford County Rescue’s goal is to help Makayla reach her goal to become Paramedic and since she is a part of the Explorer Program she will receive free training, experience and a free education to obtain the Paramedic Certification.

As Officers we are very proud to have Makayla as a part of our organization, our team but more important our family.
